In the capital of Kyrgyzstan, Bishkek, contractors will be responsible for eliminating defects on recently repaired roads. This information was announced by Abdijaparkul Janbolotov, the deputy director of the Department of Transport and Road Infrastructure Development of the city administration, in an interview on Birinchi Radio.
Janbolotov noted that the contracts with the contractors clearly stipulate that any shortcomings and defects must be rectified at the contractors' own expense. “Although the contractors are at fault, the primary responsibility for the quality of the roads lies with our department,” he added.
He also reported that a specialized laboratory operates within the municipality, and each project is under the supervision of technical oversight, which possesses the necessary licenses and certificates.
“The quality of not only the asphalt but also all road works, including the foundation and curb installation, is checked. There is also control over the strength of bridges. Yes, defects may arise, but the contractors must eliminate them,” emphasized Janbolotov.
Furthermore, he noted that under new legislative norms, the warranty period for completed works has been extended to three years, which previously was only one year. In case defects are identified, contractors will be required to rectify them within this period at their own expense.
