According to local residents, several explosions were heard before the fire started, after which flames erupted at the station. The "Kaleikino" station is the main oil pumping station of JSC "Transneft — Prikamye" in the Almetyevsk region of Tatarstan. It serves as an important transportation hub, receiving and mixing oil of various qualities coming from Western Siberia, Tatarstan, Udmurtia, and Bashkortostan. The station also stores oil in tanks and pumps it through main oil pipelines, including routes to the Nizhnekamsk Oil Refinery and export routes.
At the time of writing, there had been no official comments from Russian authorities or media, and information about possible casualties had not been clarified.
