In the conversation, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner also participated, representing the interests of the US President in peace negotiations with Russia, Zelensky reported.
“We discussed the issues that our representatives will work on at the bilateral meeting in Geneva, as well as the preparation for the next meeting of the negotiating teams in full composition, scheduled for early March. We hope it will lead to negotiations at the level of heads of state. President Trump supports this sequence of steps,” noted the Ukrainian leader.
Zelensky also reiterated that only a personal meeting with Vladimir Putin can help resolve complex and sensitive issues, as well as end the war.
As for the postponement of the meeting of the delegations of Russia, Ukraine, and the USA to early March, this information was confirmed by a source from the Russian state agency TASS. The location and time of the negotiations are currently being clarified.
Earlier, Kirill Budanov, head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, reported plans to hold a new round of negotiations with Russia and the USA on February 26-27, but the reasons for the postponement of the meeting remain unknown.
