At 28 weeks of pregnancy, a woman successfully gave birth to five babies, including one boy weighing 990 grams and four girls whose weights range from 870 to 1030 grams.

As reported by Hubei Daily, the chief physician of the obstetrics department at Wuhan Zhongnan Hospital, Li Jiafu, with nearly 40 years of experience, noted that this number of newborns is a record in his practice.

According to senior pediatrician Yang Pu, "all five twins scored above six on the Apgar scale, which is extremely rare for premature infants with low birth weight. Their vital signs are relatively stable; however, they will face issues related to breathing, infections, and nutrient deficiencies. The medical staff will closely monitor their development."

Interestingly, the mother was previously diagnosed with polycystic ovary syndrome, which complicates conception and increases the risk of miscarriage. Nevertheless, the woman successfully underwent treatment and was able to conceive naturally.
