According to information provided by Euronews, Trump noted that Secretary of State Marco Rubio is conducting high-level negotiations with the Cuban leadership. This statement was made ahead of his trip to Texas.

The U.S. President emphasized that Cuba "has no money." "At the moment, they have nothing. But they are communicating with us, and perhaps we can achieve a friendly reunification of Cuba," he added.

Trump also described Cuba as a "failed nation" in need of assistance from the United States.

These statements were made against the backdrop of a deteriorating situation surrounding Cuba. Earlier, Cuban authorities reported that a speedboat registered in Florida opened fire on military personnel in the north of the island. According to Havana, four attackers were killed, and six were injured, including a Cuban official.

Relations between the U.S. and Cuba have remained tense for many years. Since 1962, Washington has maintained a trade embargo against Havana, imposed after the failed Bay of Pigs invasion.

Additionally, last month Trump signed an order imposing tariffs on oil for countries that supply it to Cuba, which came after reports of the cessation of Venezuelan oil supplies to the island.
