Putin signed a law prohibiting the extradition of foreigners serving in the Armed Forces of Russia

The new law has been published on the official website of legal acts.

The initiative to introduce the bill to the State Duma came from the government of Russia. The law amended Article 464 of the Criminal Procedure Code of the Russian Federation.

This law expands the list of grounds for refusing extradition of individuals who are requested by foreign states for criminal prosecution or the enforcement of a sentence. Now, such grounds include cases involving foreign citizens or stateless persons who have served or continue to serve under contract in the Armed Forces of Russia or other military formations and have participated in combat operations.
