
A magnitude 7.6 earthquake occurred off the coast of Neiafu in Tonga, according to the United States Geological Survey (USGS).
The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center (PTWC) clarified that due to the depth of the epicenter, which was 237 km, there is no tsunami threat. Specialists noted that evacuation of the population is not required.
Additionally, on March 23, a magnitude 5.5 earthquake already occurred in this region, which took place in the waters of the Pacific Ocean, 204 km southwest of Apia on the island of Upolu. The epicenter of this earthquake was located 127 km northeast of Tafahi Island (Kingdom of Tonga).
