Sima Malhotra emphasized the interests of the UK in rare earth elements and other areas of joint activity with Mongolia

At the beginning of the discussion, Oyun-Erdene expressed gratitude for Malhotra's visit and her contribution to the development of bilateral relations.
The head of government noted that building strong ties with the UK, regarded as one of Mongolia's significant "third neighbors" and an important partner in Europe, is a priority for the country's foreign policy. He confirmed Mongolia's intention to develop bilateral relations to the level of a comprehensive partnership.
Additionally, he pointed out that English is the primary foreign language in Mongolia's educational system. The Prime Minister expressed satisfaction with the growth of cooperation in education, including scholarships, joint research, and student exchange programs.
He also mentioned that Mongolia is preparing to host the 17th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Convention to Combat Desertification in August 2026, emphasizing the importance of international cooperation to achieve sustainable development goals and address environmental issues.
Sima Malhotra thanked the Prime Minister and noted that there are numerous opportunities for cooperation between the two countries in areas such as mining, energy, and public transport.
She highlighted the UK's interest in cooperation in the field of rare earth elements and renewable energy sources. She also noted that ongoing negotiations regarding the construction project of the subway in Ulaanbaatar could significantly enrich friendly relations and deepen economic cooperation between the countries.
