In the published correspondence, the French president expresses bewilderment regarding Trump's position on Greenland. In one of the messages, Macron noted: "My friend, we share views on Syria. We can achieve a lot on issues concerning Iran. However, I do not understand what you plan to do with Greenland."

Additionally, Macron proposed to Trump to hold a meeting in Paris on January 22 after Davos to discuss issues in a broader format, inviting representatives from Ukraine, Denmark, Syria, and Russia.

The French president also invited Trump to dinner in Paris before his return to the United States.

The Élysée Palace confirmed, according to DW, the authenticity of these messages.

It was previously reported that an emergency summit of EU leaders will take place in Brussels on January 22, where the situation surrounding Greenland and a possible response to Trump's threat of imposing 10% tariffs will be discussed.
