Caries affects up to 97% of the population in Kyrgyzstan — dentists

In Kyrgyzstan, the prevalence of caries among the population ranges from 93% to 97%, with the highest number of cases being among children. This was reported by Abibilla Kalbaev, president of the Dental Association of the Kyrgyz Republic, in an interview on Birinchi Radio.

According to him, caries holds a leading position among dental diseases, while periodontal diseases rank second, affecting about 80% of the adult population.

Kalbaev noted that the country's dental service has both positive results and shortcomings; however, in recent years, there has been a focus on the prevention of oral diseases.

He emphasized that preventive measures can prevent the development of diseases and reduce the burden on the healthcare system. In this regard, the Ministry of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic has developed a program for the prevention of dental diseases.
