According to information from the Ministry of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic, the incidence of hepatitis B among children decreased by approximately 145 times from 2000 to 2020.

This success in the field of prevention is attributed by specialists to the fact that in 2002, vaccination against hepatitis B was included in the national vaccination calendar. Currently, the immunization of newborns is fully funded by the republican budget, and for vaccinating children under one year old, assistance is provided by the Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization (GAVI).

Since 2022, the vaccination program has been expanded to include the adult population. As part of a pilot project supported by Rospotrebnadzor, Kyrgyzstan received 350,000 doses of vaccine and 140,000 rapid tests. Initially, the program was launched in the Chui region and Bishkek, and then expanded to other regions of the country.

As of February 1, 2026, according to the Ministry of Health data:

1 dose of the vaccine has been received by 323,638 people;

2 doses - 271,182 people (83.8%);

3 doses - 195,092 people (73.6%).

The department emphasizes that these measures have significantly contributed to increasing the level of herd immunity among the adult population.
