Achievements of 2025
In 2025, 1,606 km of roads were repaired and constructed in the country, of which 1,545 km received asphalt pavement. Additionally, 11 bridges were completed and put into operation this year.“The construction of the national significance highway Barskoon - Bedel has already begun. This important project is funded from the state budget. To improve the road situation around the capital, the construction of the six-lane Northern Bypass Road of Bishkek has started. Two-level interchanges with temporary access have been launched,” the Ministry of Transport reported.
Among the key investment projects, the roads Suusamyr - Talas - Taraz, Korumdu - Balbay-Baatyr, Barskoon - Karakol, as well as a 748-meter tunnel on the Bishkek - Osh highway are also mentioned.
Financial Results of the Ministry of Transport
Last year, revenues from licensing, permits, weight control, and other services amounted to 1 billion 167.3 million soms, which is three times more compared to 2024.In 2025, 222,020 permits were issued from 41 countries. The implementation of the digital E-permit system for electronic exchange of permits for international freight transportation between Kyrgyzstan, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Turkey, and China has simplified the process for carriers.
“Now all procedures are conducted in electronic format, which significantly simplifies life for Kyrgyz carriers. The implementation of this system allows for cost savings. Additionally, a system for the electronic issuance of special permits for oversized cargo has been launched, allowing applications to be submitted via mobile devices and received within one to three hours,” the Ministry of Transport noted.
Prospects for the 2026 Construction Season
This year, the Ministry of Transport plans to launch several major projects that will include both repairs and the construction of new roads.Among the planned works:
- reconstruction of the road "Airport 'Manas' - SEZ 'Bishkek' - Ala-Archa Reservoir" (11 km);
- bypass road on Profsoyuznaya Street from Kustanayskaya Street to the traffic police post (8.5 km);
- roads to the new Osh market and Western bus station (8.7 km);
- capital repair of the highway Osh - Sary-Tash - Irkeshtam (61 km);
- design and construction of the road to the ski base "Jyrgalan" ("Ala-Too Resort");
- repair of the Bishkek - Osh highway (45 km);
- creation of a new four-lane road around Cholpon-Ata (14.5 km);
- asphalting of sections Semenovka - Ak-Suu and Grigorievka - Kol - Kashka-Suu (34 km).
