Drones and digital logistics will become the new standard in the EAEU

At a meeting between Andrey Nikitin, the Minister of Transport of Russia, and Arzybek Kozhoshev, a member of the Collegium for Energy and Infrastructure of the EEC, crucial steps for the digitalization of transport corridors and the implementation of autonomous systems were discussed. According to the Russian Embassy in Kyrgyzstan, the discussion focused on the strategic development of logistics within the framework of the Eurasian Economic Union until 2029.

One of the key outcomes of the negotiations was the formation of a new "roadmap" for 2027–2029. The document will outline ambitious tasks, such as creating a unified regulatory framework for unmanned technologies and developing common standards for autonomous transport. This is expected to significantly facilitate cargo transportation between the member countries and minimize the impact of the human factor.

Emphasis was also placed on existing digital solutions. Since February 11, the agreement on navigation seals, which allows for real-time tracking of goods, has been fully operational in the EAEU. Plans include the implementation of electronic transport documents (e-CMR) and the launch of a pilot project for the digitalization of container transportation by rail, which should expedite the border crossing process.

In conclusion of the meeting, Minister Nikitin proposed inviting representatives from observer countries to the upcoming meeting of the Council of Transport Authorities of the EAEU. This initiative aims to enhance transport connections and integrate the Union into the international logistics network.
