Blue Origin, the company founded by Jeff Bezos, has announced the creation of a new satellite network called TeraWave. The corresponding statement was published on the organization's official website.

As part of this initiative, it is planned to launch 5,408 satellites that will operate in low and medium Earth orbit. The launch is expected to begin in the fourth quarter of 2027.

TeraWave will focus on servicing corporate clients, government agencies, and data centers. The network's bandwidth, according to the company, will reach up to 6 Tbps.

Various sources report that this project is a competitor to Starlink, which already has over 9,000 satellites and serves about 9 million customers worldwide.

The company clarifies that the architecture of TeraWave includes a multi-orbit system that utilizes Q/V-band radio frequencies and optical communication links between satellites. This approach ensures high fault tolerance, scalability, and access to ultra-high data transmission speeds, especially in regions where laying fiber-optic connections is challenging or economically unfeasible.
