In the Batken region, work has begun on the installation of a drip irrigation system

In the eastern and southern parts of the village of Zhany-Jer, on additional lands that are subject to irrigation by the R-4 canal, work has begun on the implementation of a modern drip irrigation system. This was reported by the Ministry of Agriculture of the Kyrgyz Republic.

The project covers an area of 143 hectares, and construction work started in the second half of January 2026.

The ministry noted that drip irrigation has several advantages: it allows for the rational use of water resources, the water is delivered directly to the roots of the plants, which reduces losses and contributes to increased yields, as well as prevents soil salinization.

Additionally, such a system reduces labor costs and allows for more efficient use of water and fertilizers. The goal of the project is to improve irrigation, adapt to climate change, and ensure sustainable agricultural development.
