- In 2026, the replacement of 50 km of old electrical wires with modern self-supporting insulated wires, resistant to adverse weather conditions, will begin in the Issyk-Kul region, as reported by the press service of the Ministry of Energy.

The Ministry also informs about the complete modernization of the overhead power line with a voltage of 110 kV on the Tamga–Przhevalsk section, which is 80 km long. This line is responsible for the power supply of the Jeti-Oguz and Ak-Suu districts, as well as the city of Karakol.

As part of the digitalization of the energy sector, in 2026 all consumers in the Issyk-Kul region will be fully equipped with "smart" meters, the agency's message states.

Additionally, the modernization of the Przhevalsk substation is planned. In particular, a transformer with a capacity of 25 MVA will be replaced with a more powerful transformer of 40 MVA, which will allow for an increase in the total installed capacity and improve the reliability of power supply.

As part of the modernization program for distribution networks in the region, 5 modern reclosers—automatic circuit breakers designed for networks with a voltage of 6–35 kV—will be installed, which protect lines from fault currents and automatically restore power supply during temporary outages.

In addition, the installation of 14 transformer substations with a voltage of 6–10/0.4 kV is planned in the Issyk-Kul region.
