The head of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan and the Prime Minister of Tajikistan discussed cooperation issues.

A meeting took place in Kyrgyzstan between the country's Prime Minister Adylbek Kasymaliev and his Tajik counterpart Kohir Rasulzoda. Rasulzoda's visit was timed to coincide with the first meeting of the Intergovernmental Council between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.

Kasymaliev emphasized that resolving border issues is a significant event that contributes to strengthening friendly relations between the two countries. He noted that further cooperation with Tajikistan holds an important place in Kyrgyzstan's foreign policy. In 2025, the focus will be on restoring trade, cultural ties, and improving the living conditions of the population in border areas.

Speaking about trade turnover, the Prime Minister reported that last year it amounted to 36 million US dollars, which represents a significant increase compared to 2024, growing almost 24 times.

Kasymaliev also noted that both sides aim to increase trade turnover to 500 million US dollars and expressed confidence in achieving this goal.

Kohir Rasulzoda, for his part, thanked the Kyrgyz side for the warm welcome and emphasized the importance of the first meeting of the Intergovernmental Council for further strengthening bilateral relations in various fields.

He also noted that the development of mutually beneficial cooperation with Kyrgyzstan is a priority for Tajikistan and expressed readiness to fulfill the set tasks.

During the negotiations, the parties discussed key aspects of cooperation in trade, economic, cultural, and humanitarian spheres.
