Sadyr Japarov, the President of Kyrgyzstan, met with the Prime Minister of Tajikistan, Kohir Rasulzoda, during his official visit to the country.
The press service of the head of state reports that key aspects of bilateral relations were discussed at the meeting.
Japarov emphasized that Kyrgyzstan attaches great importance to strengthening cooperation with Tajikistan, based on the principles of mutual respect and consideration of the interests of both sides.
“We have reached mutual understanding on the most important areas of joint work, thanks to similar views,” noted the President of Kyrgyzstan.
He also announced the holding of the first meeting of the Kyrgyz-Tajik Intergovernmental Council, which will become a significant tool for the effective implementation of the agreements reached.
Sadyr Japarov highlighted the necessity of joint efforts to combat transnational threats such as terrorism, religious extremism, drug trafficking, and organized crime.
In this regard, he noted the importance of cooperation within the framework of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) to establish an Anti-Drug Center in Dushanbe and a Center for Combating International Organized Crime in Bishkek.
The President expressed hope that Kohir Rasulzoda discussed all aspects of cooperation with the Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan, which will strengthen the positive changes in the relations between the two countries.
The Prime Minister of Tajikistan, for his part, thanked for the warm welcome and traditional hospitality extended to their delegation.
He also conveyed greetings and best wishes from the President of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, emphasizing that strengthening friendly relations with Kyrgyzstan is an important goal of Tajikistan's foreign policy.
“We are closely following the positive changes in your country, which command respect and testify to dynamic development under your leadership,” said Rasulzoda.
He added that Kyrgyzstan's economic achievements are among the best in the region.
“Your trustful dialogue with the President of Tajikistan and political will have become the foundation for a new level of interaction. The signing of the State Border Treaty is a historic achievement that strengthens friendship and trust,” emphasized the Prime Minister.
Sadyr Japarov agreed with the expressed assessments and confirmed the intention to continue efforts to strengthen Kyrgyz-Tajik relations.
In conclusion, the President expressed confidence that the results of the Prime Minister's visit and the joint work of the governments will contribute to further development of cooperation for the benefit of both peoples.
