Amid the active growth in road construction volumes, the issue of road safety remains important. This was stated by transport expert Kalybek Temirov during a radio broadcast on February 16. During the discussion, he posed questions to the First Deputy Minister of Transport Beknazar Bazaraliev regarding what measures are being taken in collaboration with the Ministry of Internal Affairs to ensure road safety, how hazardous accident-prone areas on new and existing roads are identified, and what steps are being taken to address them.

Bazaraliev responded that the design documentation for road projects is initially coordinated with the Ministry of Internal Affairs, which is responsible for road safety. Only after this does the construction process begin. He noted that inspections of roads are conducted in the spring and autumn, resulting in the identification of areas with increased accident rates. Road organizations receive directives for each of these areas, and deficiencies are addressed step by step.

Additionally, Bazaraliev mentioned that the needs for road signs are met through the Production and Innovation Center under the ministry, which has been producing the necessary signs in required quantities for several years. A factory for applying thermoplastic road markings has also been launched in the Sokuluk district as part of a public-private partnership.

Furthermore, the installation of median barriers on key highways in the country, such as Bishkek—Naryn, Bishkek—Osh, and roads in the Issyk-Kul region, is being carried out. Previously, due to a lack of funding, these safety elements were absent, Bazaraliev added.
