The Ministry of Energy of Kyrgyzstan has announced plans to lay over 40,700 km of SIP cable in Bishkek.

In the capital, a phased preparation of electrical networks for the winter season of 2026–2027 will begin. As part of the activities organized by the Bishkek Electric Networks Enterprise — a branch of JSC "NESC," a comprehensive set of works to modernize the city's electricity infrastructure is planned.

The work on laying and reconstructing SIP cable in Bishkek is scheduled for 2026, from March to November, covering key sections of the electrical networks.

The planned volumes of work by districts:

▪️ Eastern RES — 4.5 km

▪️ Western RES — 21,420 km

▪️ Northern RES — 19,272 km

Key areas of work include:

• replacing outdated power lines with modern insulated SIP

• installing new poles and strengthening existing structures

• connecting new subscribers and developing networks in residential areas

• reducing the load on existing lines

• decreasing electricity losses.

Special attention will be paid to increasing the resilience of electrical networks to winter conditions.

The use of SIP cable will allow:

• to avoid snow accumulation and ice formation

• to reduce the likelihood of short circuits

• to ensure stable power supply even in adverse weather conditions.

The expected results of the project implementation include:

• improvement of the quality and stability of power supply

• significant reduction in accidents in the networks

• decrease in electricity losses during transmission

• reliable operation of the energy system in the winter period

• creation of conditions for connecting new consumers.

The ongoing works will significantly increase the capacity of electrical networks, reduce the level of accidents, and provide more reliable and quality power supply during peak loads in autumn and winter. The financing of the activities is carried out from the own funds of JSC "NESC."
