The USA threatened retaliatory measures against EU companies due to the digital tax

According to a statement from the USTR, potential targets for retaliatory measures include companies such as Siemens, Spotify, as well as DHL, SAP, Amadeus, Capgemini, Publicis, and Mistral AI. The agency noted that U.S. legislation allows for the imposition of fees and other restrictions on foreign services.
The conflict arose from the EU's actions regarding taxation and regulation of technologies affecting large American companies such as Google, Meta, and Amazon.

The administration of former President Donald Trump views digital taxes as non-tariff trade barriers and accuses the European Union of violating trade agreements with the United States.
