According to Tilek Suimanov's statement, Yandex Kyrgyzstan aims to be an active participant in the local market. This includes not only paying taxes but also actively participating in the development of the local environment. “We consider ourselves part of the local community. We work here and develop services so that our technologies bring real benefits. Investment in education is an investment in the future of the entire economy. The more qualified specialists we train, the faster the economy and technologies in the country will develop,” he noted.
The stereotype that quality IT courses are always expensive is refuted by the Yandex Kyrgyzstan project. A free Programming School continues to operate in the capital, providing teenagers with the opportunity to gain knowledge in this field.
Unlike many online courses, this program focuses on traditional, fundamental education. Classes are held in offline format based in capital schools and lyceums. In the current academic year, 250 school students have already started learning Python, one of the most popular programming languages that underpins modern technologies such as Big Data and artificial intelligence.
“We are not just training specialists for ourselves. We believe that the development of the IT market contributes to the competitiveness of products and helps businesses grow. Students are forming a solid foundation for further education in technical universities,” added Maria Timofeeva, head of international social projects at Yandex.
One of the main problems in education in Kyrgyzstan is the generational gap. School students generally understand new technologies better than their teachers. To bridge this gap, free professional development courses for computer science teachers have been launched.
This year, the program has become especially relevant. Teachers are being trained not only in the basics of Python but also in working with neural networks. Educators must not only prohibit the use of Chat GPT but also be able to explain how it works and teach children the correct use of these technologies.
There is great interest in such knowledge. More than 2,500 teachers from various regions of the country have already registered on the platform. Access to educational materials is available at any time, and anyone interested can join the courses.
