At a meeting of the Committee on Agricultural Policy of the Jogorku Kenesh, Deputy Gulsharkan Kultaeva expressed concern about the seedlings that were imported by entrepreneurs from third countries before the ban on their import was introduced.
Since March 1 of this year, a six-month ban on the import of various types of fruit seedlings has been in effect. According to Kultaeva, this has created uncertainty for businesses regarding the fate of the already delivered planting material.

She noted that entrepreneurs are turning to deputies for clarifications. The deputy emphasized that in a situation where import is prohibited, it is unclear what to do with the seedlings that are already in the country or at the border.

“If they cannot be sold, what should entrepreneurs do? Is there a possibility to export them to another country?” Kultaeva asked.

The deputy also added that, according to information from businesspeople, these are high-quality and in-demand varieties of fruit crops that are recognized in the international market. If the seedlings are stored for a long time in warehouses or at customs, they may deteriorate, leading to losses for entrepreneurs.

Deputy Minister of Agriculture Mirbek Duyshiev confirmed that the ministry is aware of this issue. He stated that prior to preparing the draft resolution, warnings about the upcoming restrictions were sent to importers.

As Duyshiev noted, changes in transportation logistics and delays on routes, including those related to shipments through Iran, have resulted in some deliveries arriving later than planned.

According to him, the Ministry of Agriculture has already sent a corresponding letter to the customs authorities and plans to further review the conditions of the resolution to seek possible solutions to the situation that has arisen.
