According to WHO recommendations, the limits for PM2.5 concentration are 5 micrograms per cubic meter (µg/m³). The study found that only 13 countries and territories meet these standards. Of these, only three are in Europe: Andorra, Iceland, and Estonia. The list of countries with safe air also includes Australia, the Bermuda Islands, Barbados, French Polynesia, Grenada, New Caledonia, Panama, Puerto Rico, Réunion, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Thus, 130 out of the 143 analyzed countries do not meet air quality recommendations. The five most polluted countries are: Pakistan (67.3 µg/m³), Bangladesh (66.1 µg/m³), Tajikistan (57.3 µg/m³), Chad (53.6 µg/m³), and the Democratic Republic of the Congo (50.2 µg/m³).
