In Kyrgyzstan, the Ministry of Education has confirmed that school uniforms should adhere to a classic style. This was stated by Altynbek Erkimbekov, head of the department of upbringing and extracurricular education of the ministry.
At a meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh, deputy Dastan Bekeshev expressed the opinion that there is a need to revise existing norms to make the uniform more comfortable. He advocated for the option of choosing the style of clothing, allowing schools to determine the format of the uniform themselves.
Erkimbekov reminded that according to the government decree of the Kyrgyz Republic dated August 12, 2015 No. 572, the school uniform must correspond to a classic style. This document includes requirements that take into account climatic conditions and temperature regimes in educational institutions.According to Erkimbekov, these requirements were developed with the participation of parents, students, and specialists. For boys, the uniform includes a shirt, vest, trousers, and jacket in solid colors such as black, gray, dark blue, and burgundy. For girls, the uniform consists of a blouse, vest, skirt, trousers, dress, apron, and jacket, which can be made from solid fabric or plaid, while light-colored shirts are permitted.
Forcing low-income families to purchase a specific style of uniform is considered unlawful, and the option of "light top, dark bottom" is allowed.
The ministry added that a classic style of clothing helps to foster discipline and reduce social differences among students.
