At the meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh on January 14, Deputy Elvira Surabaldiyeva (district No. 23) shared information about plans to relocate the school for visually impaired students from Bishkek to the village of Vorontsovka.

She noted that there are only two specialized boarding schools for children with visual impairments in the country — one in Bishkek and the other in Osh.

“The current school has 220 students, of which 100 are children who have come from other regions. The move to Vorontsovka raises serious concerns among parents and staff of the educational institution. The road to the new location is extremely inconvenient, and minibuses run infrequently. Given the needs of the children, this is understandably worrying. We urge that the school be kept in its current location. We should not disturb the children,” the deputy said, addressing the representatives of the authorities.
