- At the plenary session of the Jogorku Kenesh on January 14, 2026, Deputy Kamila Talieva drew attention to the acute shortage of water supply in the Leilek district of the Batken region.

According to her information, local residents are in urgent need of both drinking and irrigation water.

“They are asking for the establishment of a water supply system directly in the village to ensure the accumulation of resources for the needs of the population and agriculture,” she noted.

In addition, the deputy added that for a full water supply, two new wells need to be created in the villages of the Leilek district.

She drew a parallel between the current situation in the region and the Sahara, emphasizing the critical shortage of water resources.
