At the meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh on January 14, Elvira Surabaldiyeva raised the issue of problems related to the restrictions on the entry of citizens of Kazakhstan into Kyrgyzstan, introduced under the new rules. She noted that since September 1, Kazakhstan has imposed restrictions on Kyrgyz citizens staying in the country for more than 90 days within a 180-day period. These measures came fully into effect in Kyrgyzstan on December 1.

According to the deputy, citizens were not properly informed about the introduction of these restrictions. She cited the example of a Kazakhstani woman, who is of Kyrgyz nationality, works as a teacher in Bishkek, and has two children. She traveled to Almaty to visit her parents but is now facing problems returning to Kyrgyzstan, which forces her to leave her job. "Yes, Kazakhstan has imposed such restrictions, and Kyrgyzstan responded in kind, but this affects not just a few individuals, but hundreds of people. I urge the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Border Service to pay attention to this situation," she added.
