The remains of an unknown titanosaurs previously unknown to science found in Argentina
During field research of Late Cretaceous deposits in the Argentine province of Neuquén, paleontologists made an astonishing discovery — they found the remains of a previously undescribed species of titanosaurs, named Yeneen houssayi. The find was made in the northern part of Patagonia.

According to a study published in the journal Historical Biology, this herbivorous dinosaur existed about 83 million years ago, at the end of the Cretaceous period. Its length ranged from 10 to 12 meters, and its weight reached 10 tons. The body structure of Yeneen houssayi was characteristic of titanosaurs — a massive body with a proportionally small head.

The remains that were found represent one of the most complete finds of titanosaurs in this region. Paleontologists discovered ribs, cervical and dorsal vertebrae, a sacrum, and the first caudal vertebra. Additionally, bones of two other individuals were found nearby — one adult and, apparently, a juvenile.

Researchers continue to study the discovered materials, and scientists hope that further research will help deepen the understanding of the diversity of titanosaurs and the conditions of their existence in the territory of modern Argentina during the Cretaceous period.
