In Argentina, thousands of tourists have been evacuated due to wildfires

In Patagonia, the southern part of Argentina, major wildfires have erupted in the midst of the holiday season. According to BILD, this has led to the emergency evacuation of nearly 3,000 tourists.

The provinces of Chubut, Río Negro, and Santa Cruz have been the hardest hit, where the fire has already destroyed more than 15,000 hectares of forest.

The governor of Chubut, Ignacio Torres, described the situation in an interview with Radio Mitre as one of the most serious environmental crises in the region's history. He noted that while fires occur here every year, this year their spread is happening at an extraordinary speed and is becoming extremely difficult to control. "The region is currently facing the most severe drought since 1965," he added.

More than 500 emergency service personnel, including firefighters and police, are involved in combating the fire, and aviation resources have also been deployed. It is known that one firefighter has been hospitalized with severe burns.

The causes of the ongoing fires in the region, which have been raging for over a week, remain unknown.
