Amnesty. More than 2,000 convicts released from prisons in Kazakhstan

More than 2,000 convicted individuals have been released from prisons in Kazakhstan, according to data published by the Committee of the Penal System of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

This amnesty is timed to coincide with the anniversary of the country's Constitution, which marks 30 years. Since the beginning of last year, about 15,970 applications from convicted individuals have been reviewed. As a result, more than 2,000 people, including women and minors, have been freed, while sentences have been reduced for more than 11,000 convicts. Additionally, concerning those registered with probation services, 2,888 individuals were released from punishment, and sentences were reduced for more than 7,600 convicted individuals.

It should be noted that the amnesty did not apply to crimes related to corruption, extremism, terrorism, crimes against children, torture, and recidivism.
