More than 550,000 residents of the Belgorod region of the Russian Federation were left without electricity and heating after a strike by the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

As a result of the strike, the engineering infrastructure was damaged. According to information posted on the Telegram channel "Ashes," the missile strike hit the "Storozheva" substation and the "Luch" CHPP.

By the morning of January 9, it became known that 556,000 people in six districts of the region were left without electricity and heating. Gladkov noted that 1,920 apartment buildings lack heating, and nearly 200,000 residents are deprived of access to water and sewage.

“All emergency services are working at full capacity. <…> We are connecting backup power sources that were prepared in recent months. Restoration work has already begun where possible. With the arrival of morning, we will be able to better assess the scale of the damage and the timeline for recovery. The situation is extremely difficult, but there is hope that we will manage,” Gladkov commented.
