In Tashkent, 945,000 pyrotechnic items were destroyed on Tuesday at the fire and rescue station of the Bektemir district, which had been seized during operations by customs and law enforcement agencies. The total value of the destroyed pyrotechnics amounts to nearly 500 million soms, as reported by a correspondent from "Gazeta".

Since the beginning of the current year, more than 7.35 million pyrotechnic items worth 2.3 billion soms have been seized in Uzbekistan as a result of operational activities and customs control across 136 cases.

Deputy Chairman of the Customs Committee Otabek Choriyev reported that the main source of imported pyrotechnics is Kyrgyzstan, accounting for over 90% of cases in 2025. Kazakhstan ranks second in the number of attempted imports.

Choriyev added that the primary manufacturer of pyrotechnic items is China, while products from other countries, such as Russia, are extremely rare. Chinese products are characterized by low prices and enter the market of Uzbekistan through neighboring countries, including Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan.

This year, an increase in attempts to import pyrotechnics has been observed since July, whereas such cases are usually recorded in October and November.

According to Choriyev, pyrotechnics were most often attempted to be transported not in passenger cars, but in trucks, hiding them under the chassis of the vehicles, pretending to transport agricultural products from the Fergana Valley to the Kuylyuk market.

Of the destroyed items, about 700,000 were seized by customs authorities, more than 240,000 by internal affairs agencies, and over 5,600 pieces were confiscated by National Guard officers.

Among the destroyed pyrotechnic items were rockets and firecrackers with names such as "New Century," "Winter Forest," "Snowflakes," "Happy New Year," "Britanic," "Mickey Mouse," "Golden Sand," "Wolf," "Mi-mi-mishki," "Happy Boom," "Seven Shots," "Royal Salute," and others.

During the destruction process, the pyrotechnics were first soaked in water and foam, after which they were crushed with an excavator and buried.
