Georgia has introduced a mandatory health insurance requirement for tourists

Without insurance, tourists may face entry denial

Starting from 2026, all foreigners wishing to visit Georgia will be required to have a valid health insurance policy that will be effective for the duration of their stay in the country. The minimum acceptable coverage amount is 300,000 Georgian Lari, which at the current exchange rate is approximately equivalent to 11,100 US dollars.

The insurance must be issued in English or Georgian, and its validity should not exceed one year.

Exceptions are made for holders of diplomatic and service passports, as well as for employees of accredited diplomatic missions and international organizations in Georgia — they may enter without the need for health insurance.
