The U.S. Federal Emergency Management Agency has announced that the Washington administration has allocated $250 million to ensure safety during the World Cup, which will take place in 2026. These funds will be distributed to 11 states where matches will be held, as well as to the country's capital region.

In an official statement, it was emphasized that these grants can be used to create capabilities for detecting, tracking, and countering unmanned aerial vehicles. A representative of the agency noted that with the increasing number of cases of drone use by criminals and terrorists, it was necessary to respond quickly to security threats related to the upcoming championship.

The 2026 World Cup will take place from June 11 to July 19, simultaneously in Canada, Mexico, and the United States. This tournament will feature 48 teams for the first time.
