In the Bolshoy Chuy Canal (BCC) in the Sokuluk District, large marinka have started to be caught. This is reported by sport fishermen.

According to them, specimens weighing up to one kilogram are being caught.

As experienced fishermen note, the main difficulty of fishing in the BCC is related to the strong current. It is important to choose the right spot on the shore and position oneself so that the current does not disturb the bait and does not carry the tackle away.

As for bait, fishermen say that bread crumbs rolled into a ball and soaked in an attractant—a substance with a strong aroma that attracts fish—have proven to be effective.

The common marinka is a fish of the mountain rivers and lakes of Central Asia, well adapted to life in fast currents. In Kyrgyzstan, it can be found in the Naryn and its tributaries, Chatkal, Sary-Chelek, Sary-Jaz, and the Toktogul Reservoir.

It can reach lengths of 70 cm and weights of 3 kg or more.
