
The majority of citizens live in rural areas
According to preliminary data, the population of Kyrgyzstan has exceeded 7.3 million. This was reported by Edil Baisalov, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, at a meeting of the parliamentary groups "Eldik" and "Ala-Too" of the Jogorku Kenesh.
He clarified that final data will be available later, after further clarifications are made. However, it is already known that about 4 million people, which constitutes 57% of the total, are registered in rural areas.
Baisalov added that the demographic situation in the country shows a stable population growth and a relatively young age structure. According to preliminary data, the number of children and adolescents under 18 years old is about 1.8 million.
