According to ichthyologists, roach is found exclusively in the Chui region. It reaches sexual maturity at two to three years, and its weight usually ranges from 50 to 100 grams. For a novice angler, catching roach is a true success, while for an experienced one, it provides good support.
In the region's water bodies, it's quite easy to catch several dozen roaches for fish soup. But it's especially gratifying when a small fish turns into a real trophy.
“At the Toktosh water body, they have started catching roach weighing up to 500 grams. Large specimens are also caught in the summer. The increase in the size of roach may be related to the presence of pike in Toktosh and neighboring water bodies, which act as eco-sanitizers, eating small and sick fish, thereby improving conditions for other inhabitants. Like many other water body tenants, I leave the pike so that the non-predatory fish can grow larger. In the fall, I released catfish and now I eagerly await spring to see how they survive the winter,” shared his observations fish farmer and tenant from the Jayil district, Vladimir Grebenev.
