At a recent briefing, Olga Bryzgalova, a representative of the Ministry of Education, stated that statistical data does not confirm a large-scale outflow of teachers due to the transition to 12-year education in Kyrgyzstan. According to her, the situation remains within normal limits.

She noted that over the past ten years, there has been an increase in the number of students. "In 2015, the number of schoolchildren was 1 million 43 thousand, and now this figure has risen to 1 million 536 thousand. This, of course, has affected the number of working teachers, which currently stands at 93.6 thousand. For comparison, in May 2023, there was a shortage of 698 teachers in schools, and in the following year — 894, even though the transition to 12-year education had not yet occurred at that time. In May 2025, the deficit amounted to 850 teachers," Bryzgalova added.

She also mentioned that to optimize the staffing potential, vacancies in educational institutions are posted in the "Mugalim" system, allowing those interested to register and find work.

"As of January 2026, there is a shortage of 761 teachers in state and municipal schools. The lack of teachers in physics, mathematics, chemistry, and biology is particularly acute. Bishkek and the Chui region have the highest demand for educators, which is related to the high population density," concluded Olga Bryzgalova.
