Today, February 9, during a meeting of the Bishkek City Council, the head of the Department of Education, Rakhат Musaева, announced the intention not to separate classes by the language of instruction. Instead, it is proposed to introduce teaching in both languages.

Musaева noted that the number of complaints from parents about the lack of teachers is increasing. She confirmed that the city's schools are short of about 400 teachers, and there is a particularly acute shortage of staff in Russian-speaking educational institutions. In this regard, she reminded that Kyrgyz classes are actively being opened in such schools.

According to Musaева, the department has already sent a proposal to the Ministry of Education for the implementation of a new system that would eliminate the division into Kyrgyz and Russian classes. It is proposed that some subjects be taught in Russian, others in Kyrgyz, and ideally also in English.
