The expression "Grandmother's scheme" was recognized as the word of the year in the category of economic terms, as reported by the press service of the "Gramota.ru" website. This phrase, which refers to a real estate fraud scheme, took first place in the "Economics and Finance" category of the "Word of the Year" campaign.

44.6% of voters chose "grandmother's scheme." The next terms in this category were "utilization fee" (14.3%) and "self-ban" (11.4%).

The term "grandmother's scheme" refers to a fraudulent practice where criminals convince elderly people to sell their property and then contest the transaction in court, leaving the buyer without money and property.

It is worth noting that singer Larisa Dolina sold her apartment but later claimed that the deal was made under pressure from fraudsters. She appealed to the court, which declared the transaction invalid. As a result, the mother of many children, Polina Lurye, who bought the apartment, was left without both housing and money.

The situation surrounding the sale of Larisa Dolina's apartment sparked widespread public outcry. The honest buyer, Polina Lurye, was the one who suffered. The Supreme Court of Russia previously overturned the decisions of the Khamovnichesky and Moscow appellate courts regarding the singer's case. During the court hearing, it became known that Dolina did not provide certificates from the psychiatric dispensary, citing her status as a People's Artist of the Russian Federation. Ultimately, the court granted Lurye's appeal and confirmed her ownership rights to the apartment.
