Lessons can be conducted in two languages or, ideally, in English.
An initiative was announced in Bishkek not to divide classes by languages of instruction. This proposal was made by the director of the education department, Rakhmat Musaev, at a meeting of the Bishkek city committee.
The main reason for this step is the acute shortage of teachers in Russian-speaking schools, where there are currently over 400 vacancies available.
“In new buildings, the level of education in Russian-speaking classes is very low. Schools open only one or two classes, and when children finish elementary school and move to the fifth grade, they face a lack of subject teachers. We have approached the Ministry of Education with a proposal not to divide classes by language principle, but to teach subjects simultaneously in two languages, if possible. Ideally, lessons should be conducted in English,” noted Rakhmat Musaev.
