The recent alaman ulak in the Uzgen district has become a topic of discussion due to safety-related incidents. During the event, there were two accidents: one person died, and another sustained serious injuries. However, both incidents occurred outside the playing field.
Starting from August 2025, the "Alaman ulak" federation will begin regulating the conduct of the game. The chief referee of the federation, Melis Bekhtashev, noted that previously alaman ulak was held without clear rules, which often led to conflicts among participants and potential threats to the horses. Now, judges are required to be present at every event, and rules for players and their horses have been implemented. Violations will result in yellow and red cards.
The federation plans to build a new racetrack on an area of about 50 hectares near the "Manas" airport. Significant competitions will be held here, and venues for alaman ulak will be established in various regions of the country.
Participants emphasize that maintaining horses and equipment requires significant financial investment, but the thrill of the game and the opportunity to participate in a national tradition remain the main motivations. Alaman ulak is gradually transforming from a chaotic format into a system with clear rules, which contributes to the preservation of cultural heritage and enhances the safety of players.
