According to information published in the Bangkok Post, Thai authorities plan to reduce the visa-free stay period for citizens of more than 90 countries from 60 to 30 days.

The Ministry of Tourism and Sports of Thailand assures that this initiative will not have a negative impact on the tourism sector. On average, foreign tourists spend less than a month in the country.

Nattaya Thavivong, the permanent secretary of the ministry, noted that a new committee, created by the Prime Minister and headed by the permanent secretary of foreign affairs, intends to review the current visa regulations, including the 60-day visa-free stay for citizens of 93 countries.

She added: "We are confident that this change will not affect the flow of tourists, as the average length of stay for foreign guests in Thailand is about 21 days. Those planning to stay longer than 30 days will be advised to apply for an extension in the usual way."
