The U.S. administration has decided to cease operations to detain illegal immigrants in Minneapolis. This was stated by Tom Homan, who is responsible for border security and the deportation of illegal immigrants, and who was sent to this state.

Homan noted: “I proposed to end the operation, and this proposal received support from President Donald Trump,” NBC News quotes him as saying.

According to Homan, the process of winding down operations will begin this week, while he will remain in Minneapolis for some time to ensure a smooth conclusion of all activities.

“I do not want any more violence to occur. Every night I pray for the safety of both law enforcement officers and citizens,” he added.

Earlier, there were reports of a tragic incident that occurred during raids by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE): 37-year-old Alex Jeffrey Pretty, a resident of Minneapolis, was shot. According to official sources, he worked as a licensed nurse in a veterans' intensive care unit and had a permit to carry a firearm, as well as no criminal record.

Also, on January 7, during ICE raids, Rene Nicole Good, a mother of three children, was killed.

It should be noted that Donald Trump has been pursuing a policy of mass deportation of illegal immigrants since the beginning of his second term.
