The USA is concluding a large-scale operation against immigrants in Minnesota

Homan noted that the decision to withdraw federal agents from Minnesota was made with the consent of President Donald Trump, who assessed the results achieved. According to the official, a significant number of criminals were detained during the Metro Surge operation, making Minnesota less attractive for them. It was previously reported that around 4,000 illegal migrants were arrested during the operation, among whom were "murderers, rapists, and members of criminal gangs."
It should be noted that during the operation, ICE agents did not conduct arrests in medical facilities, educational institutions, or religious organizations. Nevertheless, Homan added that such places are not excluded in the future. Federal forces will be redeployed to other regions of the country to carry out tasks related to border security and organizing mass deportations.

In January, mass protests against ICE's actions and the immigration policy of the Trump administration took place in Minneapolis. Residents expressed their dissatisfaction after ICE agents were responsible for the deaths of two Americans - 37-year-old nurse Alex Pretti and 37-year-old Rene Good.

Governor of Minnesota Tim Walz has repeatedly criticized the ICE operation and expressed doubts about its effectiveness. He emphasized the negative consequences, such as economic losses, decreased trust in federal authorities, and the traumatic experiences many residents, including children, have endured.
