
This is already the second case where a government official has caused the death of a civilian.
In response to this tragedy, a large-scale protest took place in Minneapolis, gathering between 50,000 to 100,000 participants. Demonstrators demanded accountability for the agent who had previously shot a woman several weeks ago.
Witnesses claim that several law enforcement officers first knocked the man to the ground, struck him several times, and then shot him right in front of a café.
“We are working to confirm additional details. We urge the public to remain calm and avoid the area,” the official statement from the mayor's office on platform X said.
Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, in his statement, noted that he discussed “another horrific incident involving gunfire” with representatives of the White House. He expressed dissatisfaction with what is happening, stating: “Minnesota is fed up with this. It’s disgusting,” and called on President Donald Trump to immediately remove “thousands of incompetent and aggressive officers” from the state.
Recall that at the end of December last year, ICE launched Operation Metro Surge in Minnesota, aimed at identifying, detaining, and deporting illegal immigrants.
