Protests have swept Minneapolis following the tragic death of a woman during an anti-immigration raid, causing widespread resonance.
According to preliminary reports, an officer from the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) shot 37-year-old Rene Nicole Good, who was in her vehicle. In response to this tragedy, several thousand people took to the streets of the city, expressing their protest and chanting slogans against ICE's actions. The incident occurred near the site where George Floyd was killed in 2020, which also led to significant protests and support for the Black Lives Matter movement.

Different accounts of the events contradict each other. U.S. President Donald Trump claimed that Rene Nicole Good fired at the ICE agent, to which he responded. However, after viewing video from another angle, which does not show any attempts to run over the agent, Trump noted that it was a "horrible picture," adding that he found it unpleasant to see.

In his post on Truth Social, he stated that the officer's actions were a result of self-defense.

U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security Kirstjen Nielsen claimed at a press conference that Good was "pursuing" police officers, while the agent who shot her "used his training to protect himself and his colleagues."

Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey criticized the statements from federal authorities, calling them "nonsense." He expressed the opinion that the ICE officer "unjustifiably exercised his power," which led to the loss of life. Additionally, Frey called for ICE to leave the city.

According to The New York Times, since September, this is at least the ninth case in which ICE agents have opened fire on people in vehicles.

It is worth noting that an ICE officer shot a Minneapolis resident during a raid on illegal immigrants.
