In Kyrgyzstan, during a three-year program of free vaccination against hepatitis B, about 192,000 adults completed the full course of three injections. This was reported by the director of the Center for the Control of Hematogenous Viral Hepatitis and HIV, Umutkan Chokmorova.

According to her, more than 312,000 citizens received the first dose of the vaccine, which means that only about 60% of them completed the vaccination.

Reminder from WHO

To ensure full protection against hepatitis B, it is necessary to receive at least three vaccinations. Only after that is a reliable immune response against the virus formed. The first dose does not provide sufficient protection and requires subsequent doses to achieve the necessary level of antibodies.

Umutkan Chokmorova also noted that in the future, it is planned to vaccinate between 150,000 to 200,000 people annually, with the possibility of expanding the program if funding increases.

It is important to note that free vaccination against hepatitis B is available for adults aged 24 to 65 who have not previously received this vaccination. The vaccination is conducted in three stages and provides long-term protection against infection.
