In honor of Defender of the Fatherland Day, celebrated on February 23, events for schoolchildren are taking place in the Ak-Suu district of the Issyk-Kul region.

This information was provided by Bolot Zhayloobaev, chairman of the veterans' council of the Batken war in this district.

According to him, the goal of the events is to instill patriotism among the youth. Students are offered information about military service and various types of military weapons.

“Modern youth do not show a desire to serve in the military. We, as the older generation, are trying to guide them on the right path and encourage them towards patriotism. Although there is a subject of initial military training in educational institutions, there is a lack of practical materials. Together with the military commissariat, we show students in grades 9-11 samples of weapons and talk about military service. We have already visited six schools. It is nice to see how the attitude of the kids towards service changes after such practical classes. Our task is for every citizen of Kyrgyzstan to become a true patriot and to defend their country and people as the apple of their eye,” noted B. Zhayloobaev.
